2009 Boston Mayoral Plate Debate
In anticipation of tonight’s Boston Mayoral Debate, I thought it’d be interesting to get the 4 candidates on record answering some questions related to food. A #PlateDebate, if you will. What is the last restaurant at which you ate?
- Mayor Tom Menino: The last time I dined out, I enjoyed @tavolopizza, Chris Douglass’ spot for Italian in Dorchester.
- Sam Yoon: Aquitane in the S End during restaurant week.

What is your favorite restaurant and why?
- Mayor Tom Menino: I like any restaurant in Boston that serves good food, and luckily Boston is packed with culinary talent.
- Sam Yoon: Petit Robert, for both me and my wife. authentic and unpretentious. I dream about their beef stew.
- Michael Flaherty: Rino’s place in East Boston. I love the chicken parm and warm neighborhood family feel .
- Kevin McCrea: No Name - Nick is the best waiter in the City.
What is your favorite dessert?
- Mayor Tom Menino: There are a lot of great desserts, but I’d have to say my favorite is biscotti.
- Sam Yoon: If it’s baked and involves apples, I’ll probably get it.
- Michael Flaherty: Chocolate Moltan Lava cake with vanilla ice cream .
- Kevin McCrea: Ice Cream!
